Corporate brand identity n the business world,is considered as the physical manifestation of the brand of the company. This generally amounts to a logo and all the supporting devices commonly assembled within a set of guidelines. By guidelines, it means how the identity is applied and confirmed through approved color palettes, page layouts, typefaces and other methods of maintaining visual continuity and brand recognition.

A company’s greatest asset is a strong corporate branding identity. In fact, it is the best, single investment that a company can make. It is very important for a company if it is aiming to capture an international market or to expand it’s portfolio to include new sectors.

It is this corporate identity that is very important as it projects the correct image of the company as nowadays, the average consumer is bombarded by hundreds of advertisements that feature corporate names ranging from the ones that can be seen on TV, in the newspapers and on advertising hoardings to those that are heard on the radio and placed in the internet.

Nowadays people tend to incorporate some sort of fake factor in their successful banners. Fake factors are fake scroll bars, fake text boxes, fake submit buttons or fake selection boxes are used, where banners hold these fake factors in themselves. People then tend to click on them through a button, when in reality, they are actually clicking o a banner with a picture of a button and text link.

In other words, your corporate branding identity can be considered as a collection of all that you have told to your customers, either directly or indirectly about the company. It helps you to establish your company firmly in the minds of customers to give them a lasting impression of the quality they expect from you. The logo used for the company identity should be a simple and easily remembered icon representing something unique about your specific business. The most important thing for the success of a company lies in the faithful adherence to a sound set of beliefs upon which a company can base its policies and actions. It is but quite natural for a company to have its company identity spontaneously emerging as a direct extension of the personality of the company. However, as the organization grows and becomes more complex, its identity may become uncoordinated, weak and confusing due to the conflicting influences of the various other factions that may control its growth. So it is the task of an identity consultant to identify and define the organization’s spirit and drive to lead it into a corporate giant. The identity consultant also has to give substance to the company’s identity by embodiment into a visible system of identification that is in keeping with the marketing and positioning objectives of the corporate strategy. In this way, everyone, the public, staff and customers alike see a unified picture of direction, belief and purpose in a mission.

To have a strong company identity, it is necessary for all items of stationery, sign, uniform, website and brochure say something about the organization. However, make sure that though the different items are designed by different people, that there is no conflicting messages given out. If such happens, the organization’s image gets weak and diluted. This is the main reason the corporate giants take the extreme measure of ensuring that everything bearing their name looks and fits exactly with their visual identity system. This system is what helped these companies to become giants in the first place! A well designed corporate identity fills two primary aims; it enables an organization to present itself and goals clearly, it embodies the organization’s character, attitudes and ethos resulting in the staff acting as a team that communicates the same spirit to the outside world.

By all this, it can be seen that the corporate branding of a company definitely helps in the growth of the company into a corporate giant. It is through the corporate identity that the world sees the company, and also through it that the company grows!
