Why Title is important to a newsletter

Title of the newsletter is it’s key to success

Whenever you venture to buy a magazine, book or newsletter, the first thing that attracts you to buy them is the title. People buy reading material, watch movies and cook recipes when getting interested by the title. So it can be very well said that for the success of a newsletter, a captivating title is a must!

A good title of the newsletter is invites reading while a bad one sets the relationship off on a negative note. Avoid unnecessary words in the title as they only create clutter, and thus distract the reader from the newsletter’s main message.

Use fewer words in creating an effective title for the newsletter, as this attracts more attention. There is no use in using ‘the’ in the title as, if at all there is a need for it in the title; readers tend to unconsciously voice it as they read the title. It is also of no use adding your firm or association’s name in the newsletter title, as there is no benefit associated with this. Adding the name does not arouse the reader’s curiosity nor entice them to read the newsletter.

Instead, while creating the title for the newsletter, search for a word that best describes the purpose or benefit your firm or goal attains by publishing the newsletter. Another point to be kept in mind when thinking of the right title for the newsletter is to combine a short word set in a large type size, with the longer firm name being set in a smaller type size. This contrast adds visual emphasis to the top of the newsletter and helps you emphasize the key word. Using action words that describes the firm’s or association’s principle activity is also another theme to adopt in the creation of the title. So identify the key verb that is associated with your firm’s activity, and use it while adding ‘ing’ to it.

While creating a good title for the newsletter, it is a good idea to combine the firm’s name with a word that communicates news value. After all, news is the purpose of the newsletter! Some of these words are escape, miraculous, special, mysterious and any other word that induces curiosity in the reader!

So when publishing a newsletter, put in a lot of thought and creativity in the title. This is because you can increase sales, and also lose sales through the title of the newsletter!
