How to keep your visitors interested in your site with content

By Thomson Chemmanoor
A website is created with the intention of providing internet surfers with extra information on various subjects. There are websites on the internet boasting of articles and content of various topics from general knowledge, Science, astrology, the arts; in fact you name the topic, and it’s available on the internet!

Creating a website consists of a lot of hard work in compiling the graphics of the site that correspond with the matter and the topic of the website. This process itself is quite tedious taking in a lot of time for its creation. However, the process or the quest of the website doesn’t end there. After the creation of the website, conjecturing means of keeping a constant flow to the website is another headache altogether! Variety is the spice in life.

This applies in websites too! The main thing that has to be done to keep visitors interested in the website is by upgrading the content of the website as often as possible. Visitors lose interest in the website if they get to see the same matter on the website every time they visit the site. Avoid breaking articles into parts like in having a part compiled on the website one month and then having the second part shown on the site on another month. This is because not much have the patience or memory to follow parts of a subject like that! Instead, you could write about a part of the business or service you have for the first month and then write about something completely different on the second month. Not only matter, it does help considerably by changing the colors on the website every now and then. Looking at the same old colors may make the visitors bored, and make them skip the site. Try changing either the font color or the background and see the difference!

One of the most important things that has to be maintained to have visitors really interested in your site is to make your site load quickly, in maybe 3 to 4 seconds. This is because the longer it takes for your site to load, the more viewers you lose every second; no one has the patience to wait long for the download of a web page! This can be attained by making sure your website is small in size. Avoid big graphics as this takes some time to load. Optimize your images so that the loading time is reduced considerably to enable you to have more viewers! There is always the chance of your site turning into an online brochure and viewers may thus get annoyed with online brochures.

If at all you have to have an online brochure on your site, place an icon on the page so that the viewer can download the brochure in PDF format only if he is interested in it. The one most important thing that has to be implemented to guarantee visitors to your site is to have a provision on your site to automatically gather names and email addresses of your visitors. You can then send them emails informing them of any new additions to your website, of any new contests that you plan to have or just to give them a personal feeling by sending emails.

So if you do think of implementing these steps to your next website, in the long run, you are sure to see visitors flocking to your websites as the birds that flock together!
